The Grande Colonial Hotel in La Jolla, California is a 2012 AAA Four Diamond Award winner and a historic beauty that honors its traditions yet offers contemporary amenities and services. Built in 1913 as the Colonial Apartment and Hotel, the Grande Colonial was a trailblazer in its day. Its original white wood-framed building was the first lodging facility in downtown La Jolla and saw today’s tourist town grow around it. The hotel is footsteps away from lovely beaches, including Blacks Beach, La Jolla Cove, La Jolla Shores, and Windansea Beach, and is the preferred choice of boutique hotels near San Diego attractions such as Torrey Pines Golf Course and State Park.

The Oxford Hotel in Denver, Colorado is Denver’s oldest grand hotel and was originally constructed in 1891. Colorado’s leading architect, Frank E. Edbrooke, designed this five-story brick structure the year before he designed the BrownPalace, thus making The Oxford Hotel truly the oldest historic hotel in downtown Denver. The hotel also maintains a compelling collection of western art dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, some of it acquired from the artists themselves as settlement for room fees. Boasting talent from well known to nearly anonymous – including George Vander Sluis, Charles Ragland Bunnell, and Denver resident Charles Partridge Adams – the hotel’s collection has been compiled to suit the western essence of The Oxford itself. This boutique Denver hotel has played a key role in the city’s colorful past since its construction and today distinguishes itself by cleverly combining the opulence of the past with the modern comfort and convenience of the present.

The Marcus Whitman Hotel in Walla Walla, Washington is a tribute to Marcus Whitman and his wife Narcissa who established a mission in Walla Walla in 1836. Built some ninety years later, in 1927, the hotel played host to numerous dignitaries and celebrities, including President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Vice-President Lyndon B. Johnson, Louie Armstrong and Shirley Temple. But by the 1970’s, the hotel began to slide into disrepair. Then, in 1999, Kyle Mussman, together with the City of Walla Walla, restored and expanded the grand old building to provide not only the classic elegance and style of the 1920’s, but also the cutting-edge technology of today’s conference needs. In 2007, another renovation opened up the third, fourth and fifth floors of the historic tower as guest rooms from what had once been private office space. The 1928 Gift & Wine Shop was added in the spring of 2009.

Or enjoying coffee and conversation in the Coffee Dock. Or tempting their taste buds with dinner in the Boat Club. Or melting stress away with a massage in the Spa. It’s all here at the Lodge at Whitefish Lake.
